Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons, May and June and particularly September. Winter is very cold with snowfalls from December to February. During the winter months the valley are very often foggy and there is a wind called the foehn which is hot and dry. Another similar wind, the jauk, blows in the eastern areas of the country. There are often storms in July and August. Summer is very hot, it can be suffocatingly so. The best period to visit is between April and October.
