There are no time differences with France.

21 - Airports
The Arlanda airport is 43 kms out of Stockholm, tel (8) 797 3030.
An airport bus to town costs 60 SEK, a taxi costs 350 SEK or more.
There are other local airports in the bigger towns.

All Avis cars are completely equipped, have done less than 15,000 kms and have an average age of 3 months. The vehicles are carefully prepared and checked between each rental using a procedure containing 7 obligatory control points. The cars are rented with a full tank.
Renting from Avis automatically means that the car passengers, renter and/or driver are covered by a third party insurance as well as an insurance covering repatriation and the immobilization of the vehicule in case of an accident.

You can reserve a car :

Avis has an interactive network worldwide, a client can reserve a car instantly from anywhere in the world.

We recommend that you pay your rental using your accredited Avis card or with another credit card accepted by Avis : American Express, Visa, Mastercard, Diners.
Through a simple free membership system, Avis gives identity and/or payment cards, which are a real help for a rapid and efficient service.
You need to have your driving licence and your passport.

PRACTICAL : You only have to fill in 4 boxes and you will receive an e-mail confirming the reservation.
You can even rent a vehicle at the last minute just round the corner or ... on the other side of the world.

24 - Your suitcase
Light clothing for summer, with a jacket or sweater for evenings (and a raincoat just in case).
Very warm clothing, boots etc for winter and ski outfits for cross country hikes

In Stockholm :

Places to visit :

- The house of August Strindberg
- the Town Hall (only with a guide)
- the Royal Castle of Kungliga Slottet, which is in an ancient fortress. Transformed several times, there are 600 rooms.
- Vasamuseet : the museum of the Vasa sailing ship
- Nordiska Museet
- leaving from the Gamla Stan, a boat goes round all the inhabitated island, good for a mini-cruise
- shopping : wooden folklore subjects : Handelsgarten, crystal : Svenskt Glas

When you arrive get a Stockholm card which is valid from 1 to 3 days and which lets you into all the museums (70), gives unlimited travel on public transport and access to parkings in the centre of town. It costs 200 SEK for one day and 500 SEK for 3 days. For sale at the Kulturhuset and in some underground stations.

Events :
- the Waterfestival, one week in August with free concerts, fireworks, shows in the streets etc
- international antique fair in March
- the Stockholm marathon in May
- the tennis tournament in September
- a jazz and blues festival in June

In Malmö :

- Shopping in the pedestrian streets
- relax in the Folkets Park, an amusement park
- stroll in the Pildammsparken park, where the ponds are covered with birds

In Lapland :

- visit the biggest iron mine in the world near Kiruna
- visit the log cabin villages, where dog-sledge excursions leave with Lapp guides
- fish in a hole in the ice
- play golf in summer 24 hours a day

In Stockholm : a hotel room : from 1 000 FF
a meal (without drinks) : from 200 FF

Office opening times :

Mondays to Fridays 8am to 5pm and 8am to 4pm in summer
Meals :

Swedes don't eat much at lunch time, eating rather in the morning and in the evening.
The evening meal is taken at around 6pm.
Tips are included in hotel and restaurant bills, but it is the 'done thing' to round off the amount.

Banks are open from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 3pm, and up to 6pm in the main towns.
