Formalities to be completed
You only need a valid passport to enter the country.
If your employer is a French or international company you don't have to worry about the formalities, the administrative services usually complete them for the whole expatriate staff. In the case where you are the sole representative of your company in the country (e.g.salesman, in charge of a liaison office, etc...) you will have to deal with the formalities yourself.

To get your resident's permit you have to give your employer several administative papers so that he can constitute your dossier before you leave :

your passport
a medical certificate
your work contract
your police record
your birth certificate.
