Information
Local Customs and Traditions :
In Japan you nearly always have to take off your shoes when entering a house, a temple, a restaurant etc ... Learning Japanese will be tremendously useful. If you don't you will have to at least know a few phrases to get by at work or in your daily life. When you are invited to someone's house in Japan, or invited to a restaurant, it is considered good manners to offer a small gift to the host. Don't forget to always take your shoes off in the houses.
Shows/Music
There is a highly developed artistic life, especially concerning music which the children start to learn much earlier than in the west.

Your suitcase
Take dark coloured, discreet classical clothing and get information on the temperatures of the region that you are going to work in. Small electrical appliances (razors) must be adaptable to the local current which is 100v.
