Transport
Nearly all the airline companies in the world fly to France - mostly to Paris, but there are also international airports in Nice, Marseilles, Toulouse and Montpellier.
There is rapid and easy access to most of the other European countries by rail and road, and both the east and the west coasts have ports which handle large quantities of both passenger and cargo ships.

Internal transport :
There are various transport systems in France and several airline companies : the best known are Air Inter, Air France and Air Liberté.

Roads : 354,548 kms of secondary roads, 24,957 kms of major roads and 7,700 kms of highway. The towns are all connected by bus companies ensuring a regular service.

Rail: 34,074 kms, 830 million passengers a year. The railway network is highly developed, there is a high speed train (the TGV) which does Paris-Strasbourg in about 3 hours and Paris-Marseilles in 5 hours (and in only 2h50 from June 2001).

Public transport is locally organized and offers various advantages, eg free transport for over 60s, monthly cut-rate cards etc.
