Brussels is the capital of Belgium, the royal residence and the capital of the European Union, the headquarters of 60 inter-government institutions and 1,000 non-government organizations. There are also over 2,000 foreign enterprises established there. The region has a million residents and an unemployment rate of 8.14%. It is centrally placed and has well-developed infrastructures. 80% of its activity is tertiary. Salary charges are higher than in most of the other European capitals
Both Flemish and French are spoken in this town which is officially bilingual, but the European civil servants have imposed English as the third language.
This Branbançon city mixes wide boulevards with monumental buildings at the end of them with mazes of little roads and squares edged with gabled houses.
To visit : the house of Victor Horta, the architect and leader of Art Nouveau in Belgium, the Royal museums of Beaux Arts, the Grand Place, the place Royale, the Sablon ...

-Salle de la Madeleine, Duquesnoystraat 14, tel 32 2 511 20 20 : 3 rooms in the centre of town near the Grand-Place which can hold up to 2,000 people
-Espace Moselle, Lakenweverstraat 40, tel 32 2 502 65 45 : magnificent XIXth century manor house which can take groups of up to 110 people.

Antwerp which is the second biggest port in Europe, deals with 65.6% of the Belgian maritime traffic. More than 15,000 ships accost here each year, most of the traffic being petrol products, minerals, grain, cement, steel and chemical products. This port complex, which is also an industrial centre employs over 62,000 people. In addition to the tradition shipbuilding industry there is now petrochemical, chemical and car manufacturing industries which add to the economical development of the town.
Antwerp is the biggest diamond trading centre in the world with 4 diamond stock exchanges and about 400 workshops.
The town is dominated by the elegant spire of its cathedral and has managed to keep its Flemish charm. Its old districts are full of superbly gabled houses, crenelled and scrolled or with high glass-fronted facades. The museums are rich with works of art.
To visit : the cathedral of Notre Dame with its wonderful paintings, Rubens' house, the Beaux Arts museum, the Grand Place with the Brabo fountain and the guild houses.

-'t Elzenveld, Lange Gasthuisstraat 45, tel 32 2 223 56 13 : a pleasant environment in the centre of town, on the site of the old medieval St Elisabeth hospital with several litle interior gardens. 14 rooms for 10 to 400 people.

Liège, seat of the economic institutions in the Walloons, it remains a very important industrial centre. It is the third biggest river port in western Europe.
To visit : St Barthelemy church, the palace of the archbishops, the Curtius museum and do a mini-cruise on the Meuse.

Gent, built on the confluence of the Escaut and the Lys, is an old town woven through with narrow paved streets which meet in the centre under the austere fortress of the Counts of Flanders. Trade has flourished from as far back as the Middle Ages at the foot of this stronghold, making the fortune of Gent and giving it the title of Flemish capital. Nunneries, fortifications, halls, quays, aristocratic houses, churches... Gent is eclectic in its style of beautiful buildings : medieval, Renaissance, baroque, Gothic, rococo or Empire.
Its five-yearly flower parades have become an international event.
The port is a major centre for the importation of American fruit juice.
To visit : the Three Towers, the medieval fortress of the Counts, St Bavon cathedral, Saint Peter's abbey, the A Vander Haeghenet museum, a boat ride on the canals between the quai aux Herbes (grass quay) and the quai au Blé (wheat quay).
